Rock Climbing in the Lake District

Introduction to Rock Climbing
In the summer of 1886, on the last day of his holiday, Walter Parry Haskett Smith set off for a close look at the cliffs on the face of Great Gable. Warmed by his exertions, he succumbed to the temptation to try for the summit of the Napes Needle. He and others had reconnoitred the spire on several previous occasions, but had failed to climb it. On this day Haskett Smith succeeded, and he reached the tiny summit by himself, using no ropes or equipment. The Lake District is now home to some of the Uk’s finest and best known classic rock routes. Follow in the footsteps of the Victorian Pioneers in the company of a highly experienced Mountain Instructor, and experience climbing for yourself.
All of our climbing programmes including venues and duration are bespoke and exclusively tailored to the needs of the individuals taking part. The selection below are merely suggested itineraries to provide you with some inspiration.

During the programme we aim to break down and simplify advanced techniques such as assisting a stuck climber, lowering, hoisting, personal abseil and evacuating an injured climber.
