Introduction
The mountain environment of the Lake District provides the perfect playground for hill walkers, scramblers and mountaineers. West Lakes Adventure is based amidst the high fells of the Western valleys at the foot of the highest mountain in England – Scafell Pike, and is a perfect place from which to begin your next mountain adventure.
All of our mountain programmes, including venues in and around Eskdale, Wasdale & the Lake District are bespoke and exclusively tailored to the needs of the individuals taking part.

Guided Walks
If you are tired of standing in the valley looking up and longing to experience the rewards of topping out on a mountain summit. If that peak is eluding you or you simply want to take the stress out of your day in the mountains then hire a professional mountain instructor to accompany you. Your instructor will use their wealth of in-depth local knowledge to assist you in choosing an appropriate and memorable route, and if you wish they will spend the day coaching you in aspects of mountaineering such as navigation, route finding and mountain safety.
Skills for the hills
Why not kill two birds with one stone and learn new skills whilst spending time in the mountains. Our instructors can help you build your skill levels and confidence by coaching you in aspects of mountaineering.

Wild camping and expeditions
Imagine seeing the sunset or waking to the sunrise from a mountain summit. Wild camping in the mountains is a rewarding pastime that can be enjoyed by anyone. Experience it for yourself under the guidance of a West Lakes Instructor, who will provide all relevant equipment and coach you through all aspects of wild camping to make your experience comfortable, safe and memorable.
Mountain Bivvy
Forget tents and spend the night under the stars with a West Lakes Instructor, who will coach you through the tricks of the trade to get your pack weight down to a minimum whilst remaining comfortable and safe in the mountains.t
3 Peaks
Summiting the highest mountains in Scotland, England & Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon can present a formidable challenge. West Lakes Adventure can help ensure that your 3 peaks challenge is a success by providing advice, training, coaching, logistics support, transport and professional guides.
Posh 3 Peaks!!
If the non-stop 24 hour 3 peaks challenge seams a step too far, then why not slow things down a bit and do what we call the posh 3 peaks which takes place over several days and involves either camping or staying in hotels. The itinerary looks something like this:
  • Day 1 – Travel to Fort William in Scotland
  • Day 2 – Summit Ben Nevis & travel to Wasdale in the Lake District
  • Day 3 – Summit Scafell Pike & travel to Llanberis in North Wales
  • Day 4 – Summit Snowdon & either travel home or better still stay in Wales for an evening of celebration and tales of daring do!
Lakes 3000’ers
Summit the four highest mountains in the Lake District - Scafell Pike, Scafell, Helvellyn & Skiddaw under the guidance of a West Lakes Mountain Instructor. We have several options for this challenge depending on how much you wish to challenge yourself
  • 24 hours – summiting the 3000’ers using mountain bikes to transition between the respective peaks
  • 16 hour – summiting all four 3000’ers using vehicles to transition between the respective peaks
  • Multi day challenge – either walking between each summit or with vehicle transport between the respective peaks. Can be completed over 2, 3 or 4 days with a range of accommodation options from tents to hotels.
