Introduction to Paddle Boarding on Wastwater

Are you a first timer just wanting to try it before committing to your first board?
These sessions are perfect for those wanting to try it out by developing the basic skills in a fun safe environment.

Try out paddle boarding on one of England remotest and most impressive lakes.

This adventure will give you an introduction to paddling under the guidance of our experienced and qualified instructor.

We will provide you with the foundations to become a potential paddle boarder, as well as having a great time as we get you standing up and balancing on your board!

West Lakes Adventure are proud to be one of the first Lake District activity providers to offer quality paddle boarding tuition with qualified Paddle Sport Instructors since 2016.

  • Group size: 10.
  • Activity Duration: Approx. 3 hours.
  • Minimum Age: 10 yrs.
  • Adult supervision is required for children under the age of 16.
Paddle Boarding (SUP) Skills Session

If you have your own board or have done a small amount of paddling before and are wanting to take your paddling to the next level, we can help with our paddle boarding (SUP) skills session.

The aim of this session is to help you expand and improve technical skills and personal performance as well as boosting your confidence on the water.

This session is ideal for those who have done a small amount of paddle boarding or have their own board but lack the confidence to take it on the lake on their own, or perhaps you have attended our Introduction to Paddle Boarding (SUP) session and want to take it to the next level.

Let us help you improve your paddling techniques and fine tune your paddle strokes or perhaps your overall stance just needs improving?

We will also cover safety and some basic rescue and recovery techniques along with some advice about reading the water before you head out.

SUP the Estuary

Maybe you’ve tried paddle boarding on the lake, and you are keen to expand your horizons, what better way to do that than our Estuary trip!
As part of this adventure, you will start in the beautiful and ancient village of Ravenglass which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before setting out on the incoming tide and heading up the estuary, towards the Eskdale Valley, then as the tide turns, we will float back down to the village.
With views out towards the Isle of Man and inland towards Scafell Pike and the Lake District, it is a truly stunning voyage.

A good level of fitness is required.

Please note: this activity is dependent on the tide so can only run at certain times.

  • Group size: 10
  • Activity Duration: Approx. 3 hours
  • Minimum age 12 yrs
  • At least 1 Adult Participant for every 2 children under the age of 16.
Kit Details

Why not try Paddle Boarding as part of a multi-activity day and combine with another activity for a fun packed full day of adventure.

What to bring:

  • Something to wear under a wetsuit, or something comfortable you don't mind getting wet.
  • Footwear you don't mind getting wet.
  • Towel.
  • Full change of clothing.
  • Snacks and drinks.

We advise you leave all expensive mobiles and camera's behind.
