Scrambling is the bit between hill walking and rock climbing and can provide the most exhilarating and memorable routes to mountain summits. Scrambling is suitable for any ability and can be a great way to motivate children that become easily bored when walking to enjoy time in the mountains.

If you haven’t scrambled before then spend the day with a West Lakes Instructor who will guide and coach you in some of the Lake Districts most inspirational scenery, on some of the most memorable scrambles.
Guided Classics & Private Guiding
The Lake District is home to a huge array of classic scrambles. Let a West Lakes Instructor take all the stress away and guide you on as many scrambles as you can manage. And if your aim is to learn then your instructor will coach you through all aspects of scrambling safely and efficiently.
Scrambling Skills
If you are looking to become a self-sufficient and safe scrambler then this is the programme for you. The content and duration of the programme will be exclusively tailored to you needs and all aspects of scrambling from route choice to movement on steep ground, ropework and emergency procedures will be covered.
Cuillin Ridge Traverse on the Isle of Skye
Regarded as the finest mountaineering experience in the British Isles, the Cuillin Ridge on Skye is truly inspirational and consists of 11 miles of scrambling, climbing and abseiling. West Lakes Adventure is one of the few organisations with significant experience of guiding on the ridge, so let us take care of everything for you from transport and booking accommodation to equipment and guiding. A traverse typically takes two days with an overnight bivvy on the ridge – we also provide all relevant equipment and food.
