Half Day Ghyll Scrambling

Experience the exhilaration of this wet and wild adventure in the remote Western Lake District.
Ghyll Scrambling will see you climbing up waterfalls, jumping into pools and exploring caves.
It really is the most fun you can have in a wetsuit!
Our experienced instructors will meet you at the location and safely guide you up this beautiful and varied mountain stream, a unique way to experience this dramatic landscape.

  • Group size: 10.
  • Activity Duration: Approx. 3 hours.
  • Minimum Age: 8 yrs - Must be over the height of 135cm.
  • Adult supervision is required for children under the age of 16.

    A moderate level of fitness is required for this activity - The Ghyll can be a challenging environment, especially if we have had any rain fall.
Esk Gorge Canyoning - Extreme Ghyll Scramble

This is a full day adventure which is a step up from the Ghyll Scrambling.
The jumps are bigger, the climbs are bigger, the water is even bigger!
The remote location mean that we need a full day and help to make this one of our most challenging and exhilarating activities.
We will venture far up the river Esk, towards its source in the foothills of Scafell Pike and journey up it as it makes its down into the valley.

We are the only provider who is based in the Eskdale Valley right on the doorstep of this fantastic venue.
This not only means we have extensive knowledge and respect of the venue, but participants have access to our facilities onsite before setting off a whole day of Extreme Adventure!

A good level of fitness and ability os required for this activity.

  • Group size: 8.
  • Activity Duration: Approx. 6 hours.
  • Minimum Age: 12 yrs.
  • Adult supervision is required for children under the age of 16.
Kit Details

Why not try the half day Ghyll Scrambling as part of a multi-activity day and combine with another activity for a fun packed full day of adventure.

What you need:

  • Something to wear under a wetsuit - swim wear or shorts & a non-cotton T-shirt.
  • A pair of sturdy boots or trainers which can be laced up. Due to the terrain, plimsoles, sandals, wet shoes and Crocs are NOT suitable.
  • A set of dry clothing for after the activity.
  • A towel.
  • Snacks and a drink.
  • Esk Gorge is a full day so a packed lunch is required.
